Moving Date FAQ’s:

I already bought my tickets. Will my tickets work for the new dates?

Yes, we are automatically rolling over your tickets to the new dates: July 25 & 26, 2020!

I may no longer be able to attend the new dates. Can I receive a refund on my tickets?

We hope you can still join us, but if not, please fill out this form to request a refund. Please allow for up to 30 days for your refund, due to volume. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

What about my hotels and flights?

If you booked your hotel through our housing partner, Connections Housing, they can help you with your reservation by calling 702-675-6596 or 844-216-0055, or emailing BookExpo@connectionshousing.com. If you booked directly through a hotel or another third party website, you will need to contact them directly. For flights, we've gathered change fee waiver statements for some of the major US carriers.

Are the same authors and guests still coming to the July event?

Our team is working with publishers to determine who is still able to make the event. We will begin announcing new and returning guests as soon as we can, so make sure you're subscribed to our newsletter, following us across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and part of our Facebook group for the latest updates.

I bought a ticket for a Writing Workshop. What's happening to that ticket?

Your ticket will be transferred to the new dates for the Writing Workshops on Saturday and Sunday of BookCon in July. We hope you can still join us, but if not, please fill out this form to request a refund. Please allow for up to 30 days for your refund, due to volume. What is BookCon?

BookCon is the event where storytelling and pop culture collide.

When & Where is BookCon?

As much as we’d like to have BookCon in Belle’s library, BookCon is held on July 25 & 26, 2020 at the Javits Center in New York City. The Javits Center is located in Midtown Manhattan at 655 West 34th Street, the cross streets are 34th Street and 11th Avenue.

Who organizes the Show?

BookCon is another awesome event by ReedPOP. BookCon is the sister show to BookExpo, focusing on the business side of the book industry. ReedPOP also runs New York Comic Con, Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, Emerald City Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, Keystone Comic Con, Penny Arcade Expo and more across the globe.

What are BookCon’s hours?

Saturday, May 30: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday, May 31: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Where can I get a map and driving directions to the Javits Center?

Is there parking available?

There is no parking at the Javits Center, but there are plenty of lots nearby. Head on over to the Javits Center website for more details.

Who needs a Ticket?

Your little wizards 5 and under will be admitted for free and no Ticket is required. Kids 6-12 must purchase a Kids Ticket to attend BookCon. Kids Tickets are only valid for Kids 6-12. Please be prepared to show proof of age onsite.

How do I get a Ticket?

When will I receive my Tickets?

Once tickets are ordered, you will receive them in the mail before the show OR you will be able to pick them up at Will Call during the show. The ticket mailing deadline is Sunday May 31, 2020.

What’s the refund policy?

We are providing full refunds for any fans that have purchased badges before March 19 who are unable to make our new July 25 & 26 dates at the Javits Center. Please fill out this form.

Otherwise, your badge is yours to have and to hold until the end of the event. Sorry, we don't offer refunds or exchanges for badges purchased for BookCon.

Do I need to bring cash?

While some vendors might accept credit cards, many do not. There are ATMs located at the Javits Center, but beware, the lines are long. We suggest stopping at an ATM before you arrive.

When can I pick up my tickets from Will Call and where do I go?

What do I do if I find/lose something?

Please bring all found items to the Security Office. If you lost something, stop here to see if someone else turned it in.

What if I get hurt?

If you're hurt reach out to the BookCon Staffer nearby Security and we'll get you the help you need!

What if I’m harassed?

Harassment of any kind, including stalking, deliberate intimidation, unwelcome physical attention, physical assault and battery, will not be tolerated at BookCon. If it's illegal outside the convention center, it's illegal inside the convention center. Harassment is grounds for removal from BookCon without refund as well as potential legal action. We want BookCon to be a safe environment for all Fans, and if you find yourself victim of harassment at the convention please come immediately to BookCon's Show Office. What should I do if my child, friends, family or I get separated?

Find a BookCon staff member or security guard and we will help you locate your missing party. We suggest that when you arrive at BookCon you and your party pick a location to meet in case anyone does get lost.

We also recommend that you review and fill out the information on the back of your kids’ badges. In the event you and your child get separated at BookCon, this will help staff locate and reunite you quickly.

What does BookCon think of Weapons?

Please read this entire policy before attending BookCon. Failure to follow this policy may result in your removal from the convention without refund.

At the discretion of Security onsite, the following may be allowed as cosplay props:

  • Plastic and Metal Shields
  • Lightweight Plastic/PVC Props/Light Sabers
  • Toy guns as long as they do not look like real ones, cannot function or shoot projectiles and have an orange tip on the barrel. The barrel of all prop firearms must be covered with brightly-colored caps. Prop bows will be allowed providing all arrows have soft tips made of foam or cardboard.

If any of the above items are deemed unsafe by BookCon Security, they will not be allowed inside the building. They will only be allowed as long as they are deemed safe and will not cause harm onsite.

If you're bringing, buying or selling something that could maim, damage or cause bodily harm, we're going to take issue. The following items are forbidden at BookCon:

  • Functional firearms (including air soft guns, BB guns, cap guns, paintball guns and pellet guns)
  • Realistic replica firearms (including reproduction, fake or toy guns that can be confused for functional firearms)
  • Functional projectile weapons (including blow guns, crossbows, long bows, silly string, slingshots, water balloons and water guns)
  • Sharpened metal-bladed weapons (including axes, daggers, hatches, knives, kunai, shuriken, swords, sword canes and switch blades)
  • Explosives (including firecrackers and fireworks)
  • Chemical weapons (including mace and pepper spray)
  • Blunt weapons (including brass knuckles, clubs and nunchaku)
  • Hard prop weapons (including props made of metal, fiberglass, PVC, wood and glass)
  • Instruments that cause excessive noise levels like vuvuzelas, grenade whistles and grenade horns
  • Whips
  • Aerosol mustard
  • Drones
  • Selfie sticks


Do you have any medical assistance for Fans who have special needs?

We do! BookCon wants all Fans to have a great time at the event. For extra assistance, please visit our Medical Assistance page for details.

Do you offer wheelchairs for disabled attendees?

A limited number of wheelchairs are available at no fee via the Javits Center. They can also assist you if you need to rent motorized wheelchairs. Call their Command Center at (212) 216-2196 before you arrive for information on reserving or renting a wheelchair.

Can I bring a stroller?

Strollers, or umbrella strollers that are small in size or collapsible are allowed at the show, but cannot be used for carrying books. Any larger strollers can be checked at coat check. Staff & security reserve the right to refuse larger strollers allowed onto the show floor due to security & safety reasons.

Can I bring my pet?

No. The only animals permitted in the Convention Center are service animals. We love animals as much as you, but you are going to have to leave your pets at home.


Is there a mailing service at BookCon?

There is! A Fedex will be open during show hours so you can ship all your goodies home.

What’s the difference between an Autographing session in the BookCon Autographing Area and an In-Booth Signing?

An Autographing session takes place in the BookCon Autographing Area and is separately ticketed prior to the show. In-Booth Signings take place on the Show Floor at a specific Exhibitor Booth, with more information available within each booth’s exhibitor listing & published information prior to the show. In-Booth signings are often first come first served, but may be separately ticketed. Please check our exhibitor listings for more information on In-Booth signings.

Can I bring a book from home for an Author to sign?

Feel free to bring your favorite copy of their book to sign at the Show. If you choose not to bring your own, the Authors may have complimentary books or excerpts available (while supplies last). Please note: some Autographing Sessions require the purchase of a book in order to meet that Author. If a book purchase is required, they may only sign the book available for purchase (please inquire with the Staff working that signing). Details of which Authors are signing for free and which Authors require a book purchase will be listed in their individual Autographing sessions

Can I solicit my manuscript at BookCon?

No, BookCon is not the place to solicit or shop your manuscript. Anyone caught doing so will be escorted out of the event by the Volturi (okay, maybe we’re kidding about that last part).

What does BookCon think of Bootlegs?

The buying and selling of counterfeit/knock-off/unlicensed materials is not tolerated at BookCon. BookCon is a celebration of storytelling and pop culture colliding, and bootlegs have no place in the show. Violation of this rule will result in one and only one warning. A second violation and you'll be removed from the Show.

Can I bring a rolling cart to carry books?

Unfortunately no, roller bags are not allowed unless there’s a medical reason.

What is My Show?

My Show is a free tool you can use to easily find Authors, panels, screenings, signings and more and then add them to your personal show agenda.

Can I take pictures/video at the Show?

For the most part, you're welcome to take still pictures and video at BookCon. Note that recording (including live-streaming apps) and flash photography are not permitted in Panels, Concerts or Screenings. Also, please understand that Guests may or may not pose for photographs with Fans. Guests have a right to their privacy, and if they ask not to have their picture taken, please respect their wishes.

Will I be on camera?

BookCon will attract local, national and international press. In purchasing this badge and in consideration for being admitted to the Event, the holder consents to being recorded (by audio, visual and/or other means) for exhibition and exploitation by any means in all media now known or hereafter devised worldwide in perpetuity. Holder also hereby: (1) releases Reed Exhibitions from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right or any other claim or course of action of any kind; (2) authorizes and permits Reed Exhibitions and its designees which include but are not limited to all sponsors, exhibitors and contractors to use and authorize the use of his/her name, voice, likeness and all reproductions thereof by any means and in all media now and hereafter know for all purposes worldwide in perpetuity; and (3) agrees to comply with all rules and regulations of the event. Holder agrees not to make any recordings of any kind at designated activities without the express written permission of Reed Exhibitions. We reserve the right to deny entry or remove from the Event facilities any person who in our sole and absolute discretion is behaving or threatening to behave in a manner which we reasonably consider to be disruptive of the Event.

Is there WiFi at BookCon?

Yes! The Javits Center is providing free wireless service up throughout the entire building. With free wireless service throughout the facility, visitors can experience online access on their mobile devices while in and around the iconic structure on Manhattan’s West Side.

Is there a coat check?

Yes! The Javits Center operates a Coat Check open to all Exhibitors and Readers. You can check briefcases, backpacks, umbrellas and luggage. Pricing coming soon…

And now a word from our legal…

Tickets and/or badges (“Badges”) for the event (“Event”) are non-refundable and non-transferable and cannot be reproduced, resold or upgraded. The unauthorized resale or attempted resale of the Badge is prohibited and will constitute a forfeiture of the Badge without compensation. Each Badge must be used by the same person (the “Attendee”) for each day of the Event. The Event’s operating hours, schedules, guests and speakers are subject to change or cancellation without notice. Each Badge is a revocable license to attend the Event. All panels, autographing, photo ops, special events, show features and performances are subject to availability and access is not guaranteed and/or may require an additional fee. ReedPOP is not responsible for lost or stolen Badges. The Attendee acknowledges there are hazards and risks of physical injury or illness to Attendees of the Event and that not all such hazards or risks can be fully eliminated. By accepting this Badge and attending the Event, the Attendee freely and voluntarily agrees to assume the full risk of bodily injury or property damage, regardless of severity, or death that Attendee may sustain as a result of attending the Event, whether or not caused by the negligence or gross negligence of ReedPOP.
