ADA Assistance Program
BookCon is welcoming to individuals of all abilities and is a fully accessible event. We are dedicated to continually improving our efforts to ensure full access and we encourage all feedback and suggestions in order to improve your experience.
The following explains the accommodations provided by BookCon, as they currently stand. The below is up to date as of September 10, 2025. As the event continues to take shape, we will be updating this page accordingly, with a callout to any information that has been added or changed. We work with both internal and external resources to craft our ADA Program.
The BookCon team will consider any request by a guest with disability for reasonable modification of its policies, practices, or procedures or for auxiliary aids and services that will permit the guest equal enjoyment of the services offered at the event. We encourage you to make any such request as far in advance as possible to enhance our ability to evaluate and fulfill the request.
If you’d like more information on any of the services available to you, please reach out to our team at [email protected]. We will do our very best to help you have an awesome experience.

ADA Entrances
Prior to the event opening, there will be a dedicated ADA line for access to BookCon in the morning. There will be signage directing you to that line, but please ask a BookCon Staff or Crew member if you need assistance locating it.
ADA Credentials
ReedPop provides ADA wristbands to individuals who may have mobility, physical, vision, hearing, cognitive, psychological, or any other type of disabilities that may not be visible. These wristbands must be picked up onsite only at the ADA Desk at Will Call. An ADA wristband identifies you to Staff, Crew, and Security and indicates that you may need additional assistance.
Please note that the ADA wristband does not provide admission-- you must have a valid ticket to attend BookCon. ADA wristbands are for the use of one individual only throughout the course of BookCon 2026. ADA wristbands cannot be redistributed, resold, or reallocated. Failure to comply with this or abuse of the program will result in revocation of your ticket without refund and the inability to attend future ReedPop events.
Seating and Queue Accommodations
We provide accessible seating for fans with disabilities in our panels and community spaces as available. These include seating removed to include mobility devices, ASL-dedicated seating areas, and other needed accommodations. Please talk to our Staff onsite for details on locations inside each theater.
All seating for panels are available first-come, first-served and we cannot guarantee seating for everyone. All guests should plan to arrive at a panel at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the event so that we can best accommodate you. Keep in mind that all our events are very popular and we will make every effort to help you access the panels that are important to you.
You are permitted to bring any small seating (such as collapsible stools) with you for use in lines or throughout the appropriate areas in the venue. We have limited chairs available upon request for all queues in our panel rooms and autographing areas. Please talk with any Crew or Staff member at a panel room to have one brought out for you.
We provide separate ADA queues for signings in our Author Autographing and panel room areas. If you are attending a signing in an exhibitor booth, please check with that exhibitor directly for any ADA accommodations they're able to provide.
Please be advised that our guests often sign for limited amounts of time, so we ask you to arrive at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the beginning of the signing time. If an Author signing is not part of reservations and is available on a first-come, first-served basis, once the line reaches capacity, we will close the line.
ADA Services Available at Registration and Info Booths
There will be an ADA desk at Will Call located outside of our Show Floor entrance on Level 3 of Javits North. Here you can:
- Obtain your ADA wristband
- Ask any questions regarding accessibility for any BKCN events
- Learn about other accessibility services
Please note: You must stop at the ADA desk to get your ADA wristband credential.
In addition, all of our Information Booths at the show can answer questions or provide support onsite at the show.
We will update this page with their locations closer to the show, and they will also be marked on our show maps available Spring 2026 on our website and in our Mobile App.
Wristband Policy
- ADA wristbands are valid for all days of the event.
- Please DO NOT remove your wristband for the duration of the event.
- One companion wristband will be issued for each ADA patron; exceptions will be made for families with young children.
- If a guest wants to switch their companion, please bring the old companion wristband to the ADA Desk to be reissued.
Service Animals
Service animals are permitted throughout the venue; however, this DOES NOT include:
- Pets;
- Comfort animals; or
- Companion animals.
This event is expected to be busy, and potentially crowded at times. If you plan to attend with a service animal, we encourage you to consider whether your animal is comfortable and wellprepared for a stimulating environment with many people and possibly other service animals.
To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees:
- Service animals must remain under the handler’s control at all times and must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless such devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents their use. In such cases, the handler must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective means.
- Service animals must be housebroken and should use designated relief areas, if available.
- Handlers are responsible for any damage or injury caused by their service animal.
- Animals must be vaccinated as required by law.
PLEASE NOTE: The Javits Center does not have an onsite pet relief area, and you are asked to please utilize the park across the street from the Event.
Wheelchair Accessibility
The Javits Center has sidewalk ramps, automatic doors at all street levels, restrooms and elevators accessible for persons with mobility disabilities.
There is no on-site parking at the Javits Center. However, there are many parking garages in the vicinity. The average price for event day parking typically starts at around $50 a day and is subject to change depending on the venue's activity.
Is there anywhere I can rent a wheelchair/walker/cane?
Limited motorized and manually operated mobility vehicles are available for rent at the Javits
Center. Please make an advance reservation by calling the Javits Center's Exhibitor Solutions Department at 212.216.2319 and they will place the order for you. You can also place the order yourself through the Javits Center's customer portal, Jake, by clicking here and creating an account.
Sensory Warning
WARNING! All programming on stages may feature loud noises, flashing lights/strobes, and/or haze effects, and adequate signage will be posted in areas where panels with such features are possible. Those with young children or sensitivity to light and/or sound are advised to use caution. Strobing lights, amplified sounds, and large crowds are quite common at our show. Please be aware of your surroundings and consider taking "stimulation breaks" as needed. However, if you leave during a seated panel or session, we cannot guarantee your seat will be held until you return.
Effective Communication Requests
If you would like to request ASL Interpretation for any programming, please contact us at [email protected].
Requests for additional means of Effective Communication can be directed to [email protected] and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
While we recommend making your requests as early as possible, they should be made no later than two weeks before the event to allow for sufficient processing time.
